TEACHING TRAINING

In 2012 we held POSHU Teacher Training for all our teachers in a local hall. Among them were 2 women who were trained as Senior School teachers in Science and Math. They spoke good English and were committed to lifting up the women in their communities, women who never had the opportunity to go to school.

They conducted the POSHU Teacher Training and explained that teaching adult women is different to teaching children.

There must be respect, and accept that other duties may prevent a woman from putting herself first, keeping her from attending English Class even when she wants to.

There are no exams, no pressure, always welcoming. Classes are safe places for women to discuss any issues important to them… POSHU Teachers are supported by their village POSHU Committee who mobilize the women and collect the books after each lesson.

Women are able to borrow books to study at home and for their children to use. Each class has a small library of picture book readers, story books, school books on science, agriculture, health and hygiene. POSHU Teacher Training for health and first aid.
